History at the Grange

March

In March we present “History at the Grange” a presentation of local history coupled with dinner and a raffle. Past topics have included the “Evolution of the Town Green”, from pasture to Town Center; and the story of the German Prisoner of War Camp in Windsor. The Windsor Grange 410 is located at 9161 Starr Road and has served as the local community hub for close to 100 years.

Windsor Historical Society Annual Meeting

June

In June of each year the society holds its annual meeting where we conduct the necessary business of the society and also incorporate “Volunteer Appreciation” into the meeting. We honor the Volunteer of the Year as well as give awards for historic preservation. There is no charge for this event and all members are welcome.

Hop Harvest & Heritage Day

September

In early September or late August we invite the public to harvest our crop of Sonoma County Hops that we grow in our hop yard at the Museum. These are the hops that made Sonoma County famous and are propagated from 70+ year old bines plucked from the historic hop yards that dotted the Russian River valley. In addition to the harvest we sell a “Hop Camp Lunch”. We also exhibit many items that are too large to display in the museum during this event.

Annual Holiday Party

December

In December the Historical Society hosts a holiday party to give thanks to our community and share the holiday spirit. Light refreshments are served.
